Aloha! My name is Jovy, I am the owner of Balloons and Decor by Jovy.
I’m embarking on a journey to share my creativity with the world. Having an eye for detail, a keen appreciation to all things beautiful has brought me to this new and exciting endeavor that I hope to venture with you!
I was an Elementary teacher back when I was living in the Philippines. My family and I moved to Hawaii, I couldn’t continue to pursue teaching and resulted working in retail for about 11 years. I started as a sales associate and work my way up to Store Manager. As time progressed and as I got far into working retail, I realized that I was losing balance in my life. I could hardly spend time with my family especially with my son, and health was another main concern.
Therefore, I decided to take a break and explore the creative side of me again. It all started when a friend of mine asked me to throw a gender reveal party. Everything turned out really well. From there, a hidden passion of mine emerged. Sweet Treats and Decor by Jovy started as a sweet treats styling business and overall event decor and not much on the balloons. Can you believe that?
In 2020, the global pandemic began to take its toll on businesses around the world, including ours. Our customer traffic drastically declined as more and more event reservations were forced to cancel due to government lockdowns and social distancing guidelines. Within that moment, I realized that this may be the end of my creative passion. Until the coming of summer, when Graduations became an open market. With the new trend of drive by parties emerging, I looked into a new way of expressing my creativity, by turning into balloon art. At first, I thought balloons may be a challenge, and I didn't have much experience working with balloons, but I was driven to make it happen. Weeks of practice and seeking inspiration, I began to make a living creating unique and amazing works of balloon art. Each event there on, I looked for more ways to improve by marketing my work on social media. With the help of Instagram, I was able to spread the word, and more and more customers began contacting us. Time after time I meet new partners, that helped me learn and grow my business and until this day, I continue to work with all these amazing and unique business partners.
Looking back now, I realized that we have come a long way and with each passing month, in such a seeming short amount of time, our business not only grew, but my creative passion continues to evolve into glamorous and amazing works of art that continues to please customers of all ages and varieties.
Who knew this will be my dream job? I am incredibly lucky that I get to call this my job because the best part is the feeling you've helped to create a vision for such a special occasions that means the world to them.
